“Peter’s immediate response was: ‘call the executive and disendorse the candidate’.” — If the NSW Libs win government later this month, Debnam’s election-mode trigger finger might come back to haunt him.

“The federal Treasurer yesterday announced changes that would […] give the [ACCC] powers to initiate legal action and seek compensation on behalf of companies targeted by boycotts.” — Costello using farmer’s woes to attack free speech and action?

“Today I take on a new role: OpenJDK Ambassador.” — Rock on, Tom! This is great news for the whole Java ecosystem.

“Enough, Mr. Ballmer, please.” — Great screed from Stephen Walli, lambasting the Microsoft leadership’s toxic messaging about Open Source, commercialisation and patents. At least they know the biggest threat they face is ‘alternative business models’.

“The South African Cabinet today announced that it had approved a free and open source strategy and that government would migrate its current software to free and open source software.” — Bold move. Watch out for tough Novell vs. Canonical/Ubuntu battle.

[IMG Jeff Waugh]Jeff Waugh was interviewed on FLOSS Weekly Semi-regularly 16 hosted by Chris DiBona and Leo Laporte. Although released in February it was recorded in 2006. The interview is great. Some of the highlights for me are learning more about the early days of Ubuntu, where Jeff sees Ubuntu now, and where he is as an open source professional. Jeff regularly demos his deft wit.
